Description

LÁN is Kavalan's tribute to its home of Yilan – the name also means "orchid" in Chinese, a nod to Taiwan's reputation as the Kingdom of Orchids. It brings together whisky from ex-bourbon casks, port casks and Kavalan's signature STR (shaved, toasted and re-charred) wine barriques for an elegant, floral and gently sweet single malt.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Orchid, rose, jasmine and orange blossom over creamy vanilla, caramel, chocolate and honeydew melon.
Palate: Floral and fruity, with creamy chocolate, dark berries and a nutty, cinnamon-spiced woodiness.
Finish: Medium-long, with nuts, cinnamon and soft oak.

Kavalan has been making single malt in Taiwan's Yilan County since 2005. Its whisky has become some of the most awarded in the world, collecting World's Best Single Malt and Whisky of the Year titles. The warm subtropical climate helps the spirit draw flavour from the oak quickly.
